Harrison Township Parks
Harrison Township owns a 14 acre park on Springhill Road with ballfields and tennis courts, used by many adult and youth groups. A free play area is also available.
Allegheny County Regional Park No. 6, Harrison Hills Park, is located in the northern section of the Township. Picnic areas, play areas and nature trails are located in the park for the use of residents and visitors. The phone number is 724-295-3570 to reserve a picnic site.
The Riverfront Park, developed near Lock Number 4 on the Allegheny River in Natrona, was funded through a state grant and local donations. This park provides a place to view the river activities and the operations of the Lock and Dam. The Park has been designated as Fred C. Skwirut Memorial Park, in honor of the Commissioner who worked very hard to develop the park area.
The total redevelopment of the Natrona playground on River Avenue in Natrona was completed in the summer of 2009. A concession stand and pavilion are still possible additions to the site.
The playground was financed through State, County and other grants, and with the help of the Natrona Comes Together Association. The park is now open and available for the use by the public.
